More on "Zoey 101" and Britney's little sister
Associate Press writer John Rogers reports today in the Daily Bulletin on the new show starring Britney's little sister Jamie Lynn and what this young up and coming superstar had to say about it."I thought, `Oh my gosh, that would be so cool!'" she recalls thinking when veteran TV producer Dan Schneider told her one day over lunch that he wanted to take her out of the ensemble cast of the children's variety show "All That" and put her in the spotlight... "So we started talking about stuff and we came up with all of these — all of these ideas — and he wrote something,"
Jamie Lynn stars as Zoey Brooks, one of a handful of girls at an historically all boys school, who quickly takes charge and shows the boys there will be no pushing the girls around now that she is here. Zoey 101 premiered Jan 9 on Nickelodeon.
Jamie Lynn has been in show business all her life. Only 8 when Britney's first hit came out and already the "breakaway star" of Nickelodean's teen hit, "All That", one might think Jamie is getting all this attention simply because of her last name.
Dan Schneider, executive producer of "All That" says no, her appeal is genuine and unique.
"Based on her audition, I would have added her to the cast of 'All That' even if she had not been a Spears," says Schneider, adding the secret to her success both as an actress and a person seems to rest in the fact she doesn't realize she's beautiful, famous and talented. But having a superstar music diva for a big sister does have it's advantages. Britney wrote the title song "Follow Me" which Jamie Lynn sings and there are great hopes for a guest appearence by the older Spears on an upcoming show. That would be "really cool" says Jamie.
"The net result is you have this real girl talking to you, sort of like the girl next door," he says.
So keep your eyes on this next Spears superstar who is sure to go far and tune into her new show at 8pm EST on Nickelodean to see when Britney might make an appearance!
